Day wise details

Day 01: Guwahati (ASSAM)

Arrive Guwahati airport and transfer to hotel. Enroute to hotel visit Kamakhya temple – it is situated at the top of the Nilachal Hill at about 800 feet above the sea level. The entire temple complex not only comprises of many other temples but also a whole set of people connected with them. Apart from the main Devi temple, it also comprises of some other major temples of Devi Kali, Tara, Bagala, Chinnamasta, Bhuvanesvari, Bhairavi and Dhumavati. (Timing 08:00 A.M till 01:00 P.M & 3:00 P.M till its gets dark)

Also visit Sankardev Kalakhetra – light and sound show or evening river cruise on mighty river Brahmaputra on direct payment. Overnight at Guwahati

Day 02: Guwahati – Shillong (ASSAM – MEGHALAYA)

After breakfast we visit the Nabagraha Temple and then drive to Shillong (120 kms / 3hrs drive approx). Check in to hotel. Later local sightseeing in Shillong. Overnight in Shillong.

Day 03: Shillong – Cherrapunjee – Shillong (MEGHALAYA)

You will be traveling to Cherrapunjee – the wettest place on the earth. En route visit the famous Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak - to enjoy a bird’s eye view of Shillong city. At Cherrapunjee visit – Mawsmai Cave, Mawsmai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls and Nohkalikai Falls. After lunch at Cherrapunjee, visit Thankarang Park and Koh Ramhah . Drive back to Shillong for overnight halt.

Day 04: Shillong – Mawlynnong - Shillong (MEGHAYALA)

After breakfast excursion to Mawlynnong (100 kms / 3 hrs drive approx). Drive back to Shillong for overnight stay.

Mawlynnong village, situated 90 kms ahead of Shillong on the Shillong-Dawki Road, 30 kms from Pynursla, is a village of 75 households with a population of 400. An idyllic location, this village epitomizes a standard, which all other villages need to aspire to be. Dubbed the cleanest village in India by Discover India Magazine, the primary Village School till class V boasts of its no dropout record and the village of 90 % literacy. Paved walkways and beautiful flowerbed all along mark the village, with waterfalls, *a living root bridge, hilly rivulets, acacia plantation and an excellent view of the faraway plains of Bangladesh all contribute to the ambience of this village. Farming of betel nut & leaves, broomsticks and pepper along with bee rearing are the primary economic activity of this Village and with the village headman himself taking the responsibility of making visitors comfortable, a day in this village gives an insight into the life of the Khasis, the influence of the Church and its metamorphosis.

Day 05: Shillong - Kaziranga National Park (MEGHALAYA- ASSAM)

Arrive Guwahati airport and drive to Kaziranga (250 Kms / 5 hrs drives). Check in Hotel. Overnight in Kaziranga.

Kaziranga National Park: In the heart of Assam, covering an area of 430 sq-kms, is inhabited by the world's largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses, as well as many mammals, including tigers, elephants, panthers and bears, and thousands of birds. In 1985, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its unique natural environment.

Day 06: Kaziranga (ASSAM)

After breakfast enjoy the Park on a Jeep. Evening visit tea garden and local villages. Overnight at Kaziranga.

Day 07: Kaziranga- Tezpur (ASSAM)

After breakfast drive to Tezpur. Tezpur: (130 kms/ 2 hrs drive approx) Modern day Tezpur, the headquarter of Sonitpur district of Assam is said to be erstwhile Sonitpur, the Kingdom of legendary King Banasura. According to the legend when Lord Krishna's army and Banasura's army fought for the rescue of Aniruddha (grandson of Lord Krishna) who married Banasura’s daughter ‘Usha’ against the will of her father there was so much bloodshed that the whole place was stained in red. This prompted to the name of the place becoming Tezpur (means the City of Blood). Modern Tezpur was founded by the British colonial administration in 1835 as the headquarters of Darrang

Arrive Tezpur and check in at hotel.

Afternoon visit: Agnigarh: According to the legend the site of the fortress was built by Banasura to keep his daughter Usha in isolation. The name ‘Agnigarh’ has been derived from two Sanskrit words 'Agni’ (meaning fire) and 'garh' (meaning fortress or wall). It is a hill on the banks of the Brahmaputra river and one of the big tourist attractions in Tezpur. The view of river Brahmaputra the Kolia Bhomora Setu bridge(named after the Ahom general Kolia Bhomora) is really eye catching.

Mahabhairav Temple: This ancient Shiva Temple located in the heart of Tezpur town is believed to have been established by king Banasura in the pre-historical times. The temple was originally built of stone but renovated and built with concrete. During Shivaratri thousands of devotees around the country visit the temple and offer their prayer to Lord Shiva.

Rest of the time free at leisure

Overnight at hotel.

Day 08: Tezpur – Guwahati Drop (ASSAM)

Today after breakfast drive to Guwahati Airport Drop.
